Dear Journal,

Today is June 14, 2016. Just 3 days after the Orlando Night Club massacre. It sickens me to see that it takes such a traumatic event for people to put aside their differences and beliefs and stand together. This mentality should be practiced 365 days a year, regardless of your religion, ethnicity, color, gender, sexual orientation, or profession; we all share one thing- A HEART! There should be no reason for anyone to take a life because they don’t agree with the kind of life-style someone else is living. Who is anyone to decide when someone’s life should end?

Being Gay is not taught, it isn’t a life choice, and it is not something a person can just wake up one day and decide to become. It is in your genes. You are born with it just like if you had blue eyes, or brown hair. Just like if you were 6’2’’ or 5’2’’. It is something GOD- Yes I said it GOD Wanted for you. It is also something you can’t change; you were born with what you got.

From the Oklahoma bombing, Columbine Shooting, Twin Towers, Boston Marathon, Aurora Movie Theater Shooting, Sandy Hook Shooting, Charleston Church Shooting, Orlando Pulse Shooting and more unfortunate tragedies, there has to be an end. There has to be a time when we realize, enough is enough! These all have terrorist activity involved, for different reasons these people decided to take it upon themselves and end innocent lives. What happened to caring, respect, listening, acceptance and love? What happened to humanity? When did hate and anger takeover? The thought of someone harboring so much hate, rage and animosity towards a group of people who are just living their lives is disgusting. The anger it takes to go on a massive killing spree is outrageous and I can’t ever understand what drives people to do such things. As a community we need to focus on love and acceptance rather than allowing ignorant people choose the fate of another person’s life.

Love isn’t black or white, male or female; it’s transparent.

It breaks my heart to have to write these names down, but here is to the amazing souls that were lost on that tragic early Sunday morning!

Here is a list of the victims from the Orlando Pulse Shooting: May all you rest in peace, my prayers and heart is with all of you and your family.
