Why did I choose this line of work of being a photographer?
I believe I was given this gift for a reason. When I was younger I always had some sort of camera with me. I had a SLR 35mm, point and shoot 35mm, original polaroid, polaroid I-zone instant pocket camera, a disposable camera and up to now a DSLR Nikon. I remember when I was in 8th grade we went to NYC, Ellis Island. On our way there, on the boat I could see the NYC skyline. The skyline was amazing, especially the Twin Towers. I didn’t hesitate to snap that fantastic view. Ever since 9/11 I can look back to that photo and remember that moment in time. I can still remember admiring those two huge identical buildings. I believe that photos are gifts from your past self. I want to share that philosophy to my potential clients and capture outstanding photos for them to look back on and have them remember & react to that moment just as I did when I was in 8th grade.
What was your favorite camera as a kid?
I would have to say, and as cheesy it is the Polaroid I-zone. It was a fun camera to capture anything. You would pull this narrow piece of film out from the body and stick it on anything you want to create a memory book.
What was your first professional job?
My high school friend Steve got engaged and asked me if I wanted to take their pictures. I was really excited and started to think of a location. I am a fan of lighthouses, so we went to Beavertail, Jamestown. It was so much fun they both said I should start doing it professionally.
Where did B-raps Studios come from?
My full name is Bryan Raposa. When I was in middle school one of my friends Stephanie started to call me B-raps. I had many nicknames while I was in school but this one stuck out more than others. When deciding to start my own business I didn’t want to be generic like everyone else with having their name as their business name. That is why my business name is B-raps Studios.
What does the kite represent on your logo?
The kite represents how far or high I want to take the vision of my business. Just like flying a kite with holding on to the string. The wind, “client” is the force behind flying the kite. As the analogy goes I am the person holding on to the spindle of the kite. Only my potential clients can let my business grow.
What are some of your hobbies outside of taking Photos?
I enjoy being outside doing something fun and adventurous. Fitness is important to me- keeping my body and spirit healthy and in shape is what I try to achieve. I am a huge fan of traveling. Visiting new places, experience new cultures and food is so exciting to me. I love to garden and watch them cultivate. Harvesting your own crops and making things fresh- there is nothing better than that, as they say seed to table. I am a family man and enjoy hanging with people I love.
